Chrysler more than quadruples first-quarter
profit, Bloomberg, April 26
o Chrysler Group said first-quarter net income more than quadrupled
as car models such as the 200 and 300 sedans helped capture the industry's
biggest U.S. market-share gain, Bloomberg reported. Profit climbed to $473
million for the three months ended March 31, from $116 million a year earlier,
the company said today, Bloomberg said. Sales increased 25 percent to $16.4
billion as the company tapped into Detroit's comeback with a Super Bowl
television ad featuring actor and director Clint Eastwood, the news service
said. Chrysler's U.S. deliveries of passenger cars surged 89 percent this year
through March from a year earlier, with the 200 and 300 sedans providing the
biggest gains, according to researcher Autodata Corp., the article said.
"Chrysler continues to grow their business in a very disciplined way, balancing
demand and supply better than their Detroit competitors," Warren Browne, a vice
president at consultant AutomotiveCompass, said, Bloomberg
reported.
2012 Dodge journey - family-friendly,
flexible, The Province
(Canada), April 25
o The
Dodge Journey is a good-looking, great value, multi-use family vehicle that can
seat five or seven occupants, The Province in British Columbia said. Chrysler
Group certainly puts its expertise in flexible multi-seat interiors to good use
in Journey, The Province said. The reviewer was particularly impressed by both
the performance of the V6 engine and quietness of the cabin, the article said.
Journey's suspension certainly does a good job of softening irregularities in
the road, particularly at highway cruising speeds, the article said. "Fantastic
value," The Province said. The hugely popular Dodge Journey is a family-friendly
vehicle that won't break the bank, yet has the look, feel and features of a far
more expensive vehicle, the article said.
Jeep® brand unveils videos at Nobel
laureates summit, Detroit Free

Chicago, the paper said. One video highlights the humanitarian efforts actor
Sean Penn has led in helping Haitians recover from the 2010 earthquake. The
footage featured several Jeep Wrangler SUVs that were donated to the J/P Haitian
Relief Organization, the article said. The second video was filmed with several
Nobel Laureates who were in Chicago for the summit including the Dalai Lama, the
spiritual leader of Tibet, former Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev, former
South African President F.W. de Klerk and Lech Walesa, former president of
Poland, the article said. Walesa will speak in Detroit Thursday to workers at
Chrysler's Jefferson North assembly plant, the Free Press said.
