What engines are available for the new Wrangler?
One of the best reasons to buy a Wrangler is for power, and the 2021 version certainly gives it to you. Coming standard is a 3.6-liter V6 that pumps out 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. The engine comes with four-wheel-drive and is available with Jeep’s mild eTorque system, which improves the fuel economy. Pairing with this engine is either a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmission. Optional for the Wrangler is a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder that gives you 270 horses and 295 lb-ft of torque or a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 diesel engine that pumps out 260 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque. These two engines are available with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Coming soon will be the 4xe, which takes the four-cylinder and adds a hybrid battery pack while producing 375 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque.
What are some of the features?
Four trim levels and a few sub-trims are available for the Wrangler. Starting things is the Sport, which comes with 17-inch steel wheels, skid plates, tow hooks, foglights, and a 5-inch touchscreen. An optional package for the Sport is the Willy’s, which adds four-wheel disk brakes, limited-slip rear differential, and all-weather floor mats. Moving up to the Sport S adds even more fun features such as alloy wheels, air conditioning, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and power windows and locks. Altitude versions of the Sport S add an upgraded off-road suspension and black interior and exterior accents. At the midway point is the Sahara, which has full-time four-wheel drive, automatic climate control, and a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Altitude version adds leather seats, a parking brake handle, and a shift knob. If you want more off-road features, the Rubicon version has it with 17-inch wheels with 33-inch off-road tires and larger fender flares, 4:1 low-range gearing, an electronic disconnecting front stabilizer bar, and rock rails.
What are some of the safety features?
Though the Wrangler is one of the most powerful SUVs on the planet, it’s also one of the safest, thanks to its bevy of available safety features. The available Blind Spot Monitoring and Rear Cross Path Detection System use radar-based sensors to detect vehicles in your blind spot or coming up behind you. Also available is a Forward Collision Warning System with Active Braking that alerts you when the Wrangler senses a potential frontal accident and can even automatically engage the brakes if the driver fails to respond. Finally, the Adaptive Cruise Control System helps to adjust your speed so that you maintain a consistent distance between you and the traffic ahead.
