2020 Jeep Wrangler Power & Handling

Power is the name of the game when it comes to the Jeep Wrangler. It starts off its excellent engine lineup with a 3.6-liter V6 that makes 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. The engine pairs nicely with either a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmission, both of which provide you with a terrific ride both on and off the road. The Wrangler gives you the option of a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder that has 270 horses and an impressive 295 lb-ft of torque. Finally, yes, there is a diesel engine! It’s a 3.0-liter turbodiesel V6 that comes with 260 horsepower and an astounding 442 lb-ft of torque. Both of the optional engines pair with the eight-speed automatic transmission. No matter what engine you go with, you’ll be treated with a bevy of four-wheel-drive options.

There are a couple of engine options available for the Ford Bronco. Starting things is a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder that makes 270 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. If you want a tad more power, the Bronco offers you a 2.7-liter twin-turbo V6, making 310 horsepower and a respectable 400 lb-ft of torque. The turbocharged four-cylinder pairs with either a manual or automatic transmission, while the V6 comes strickly with automatic transmission, so your choices are a bit limited. We are incredibly disappointed in the lack of a diesel engine, which is something you can get with the Wrangler. It certainly limits your torque output.

2020 Jeep Wrangler Features & Design

Three primary trims and three special editions are available for the Jeep Wrangler. The base Sport is very well equipped as it comes with17-inch steel wheels, skid plates, tow hooks, a fold-down windshield, manual mirrors and locks, cruise control, push-button start, and a 5-inch touchscreen. The Sport S sub-trim adds to this with alloy wheels, air conditioning, automatic headlights, remote locking and unlocking, heated power mirrors, and so much more! Then starts the three special editions known as the Black and Tan, Willy’s, and Freedom. These come with more impressive features such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, all-terrain tires, limited-slip differential, and unique graphics packages. If you’re looking for something that goes off-road, the Rubicon is your best bet as it comes with heavy-duty axles with shorter gearing, 4.0-to-1 low-range gearing, and rock rails. You can also get leather upholstery on higher-level trims.

While the Bronco has a decidedly retro vibe for its exterior, the inside feels very modern as it comes with all the latest tech. With the Bronco, you get the latest Ford Sync System that comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and all the latest safety features. Most systems can be used for off-roading as the Bronco comes with a navigation system that works while your off-road and provides you with a list of trail suggestions. There are also strategically placed cameras that take a lot of the guesswork out of picking the correct line on the trail. Additional off-road tech includes Trail Control, that functions sort of like a low-speed cruise control so that you can focus on the direction of your Bronco rather than the speed. Also included is Trail Turn Assist, which allows the Bronco to make sharp turns by braking the inside wheel leading the Bronco to almost pivot around it.


While both of these SUVs have their own merits, we will give the victory to the Jeep Wrangler. The Wrangler’s engines, including the diesel, are more impressive than the Bronco’s, and the three trim levels and special editions have some of the best features we’ve seen on an SUV.
